22,000 Scholarships is Just the Beginning
Established in 2017, the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program generates private dollars for K-12 scholarships to low-income and working-class students who attend qualified non-public schools throughout Illinois. Through the history of the tax credit scholarship, we have awarded more than 20,000 scholarships and raised more than $170 million for the program.
Building on this success, locked in arms with the state’s leading trade unions, we are expanding the program with the inclusion of trade high schools serving underrepresented minority students. Our goal is to provide a pathway to an apprenticeship and align their knowledge and skills to the demands of high-demand careers in the trades.
The Tax Credit Scholarship Program was created by a committed group of lawmakers and maintains diverse support from trade unions, child advocates, passionate parents, business executives, faith leaders, and private school educators who believe kids only get one chance at a quality education.
